Within the framework of the World Conservation Congress, IUCN, the French Global Environment Facility (FFEM) and the Institute of Research for Development (IRD) are organizing a thematic session on mangroves: “Global pressures on mangroves and their communities: solutions from conservation and restoration”. Introduced by Alex Rosenfeld’s film, this session will be played in three parts:
- – Communities, local participation and sustainable use: leading towards the equitable and sustainable use of coastal marine resources (led by IRD)
- Conservation and restoration best practice examples (led by FFEM)
- Governance challenges and opportunities: Putting words into action (led by IUCN)
