The hydrological rehabilitation protocol was defined based on analyses of the restoration and reference sites (excavation of 26 new channels and restoration of 19 pre-existing channels – a huge task!) Ad hoc nurseries will produce plants from the Rhizophora and Avicennia species, while spoil from the excavation of the channels will form an artificial platform to be reforested with propagules and/or A. germinans plants.
